Day 14: Home

Today I went home so I can take some pictures of the city in film for my final project in a class. I think the best thing about going home is seeing my kittens. <3 I'm going to be the cat lady when I'm older and I'm not ashamed of it.

Day 13: Bell Tower

Today was the Old Main open house and I finally got an opportunity to climb the bell tower! It was great to cross something off my "Things to do before I graduate" list.

Day 12: Ronnie Burrage

I shot this drummer from Bellefonte named Ronnie Burrage. It was the first time I had ever went to Bellefonte. It was an interesting experience to say the least...

Day 11: Experimenting

Today in Studio we were experimenting with different lighting techniques for our creative portraits. I thought this one was pretty creepy and interesting and something I've never seen before.

Day 10: Packing

I want to get out of State College as soon as possible so I already started packing so my dad can take stuff home when he comes for Blue and White weekend. This has been the worst semester ever and I know things aren't going to get better when I get home but at least I'll be in the city I love. <3 Just 20 Days!

Day 9: Drawing

I used to love to draw back in the day but I never seem to have time for it anymore. I decided to pick up the pencil again today but then I got lazy... I'll probably finish it tomorrow. :)

Day 8: 400+

I didn't take just one photo today, I took over 400!!! Today was the 5th Annual Arts Crawl and I with the help of Andy Colwell, Sarah Nesbitt and Dave Ader (in the picture) put up a photo booth and put and took pictures of everyone at the Crawl. Check out Andy's website for more pictures: http://www.andycolwell.smugmug.com/

Day 7: First Video!

I made my first video in my photojournalism class today! We shot with D90s and then edited using Final Cut Pro. I know its horrible and its out of focus and its overexposed and all that junk, but it took me so long to find a random person on the street and I literally shot it in 5 minutes since we were running out of time. :( I loved shooting and editing so I definitely want to do this again in the future!

Day 6: Robert Frank

Guess who's doing a project on Robert Frank! I kinda like his stuff but it might just be me because it instils a sense of nostalgia since he has a lot of cool picture that remind me of home. I look forward to doing more research on him. Check him out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHtRZBDOgag

Day 5: Mind Blown

Got this at the Pow Wow for 4 dollars and the people who sold it to me didn't even know what animal it was so I of course had to buy it to do my own anthropological research. I thought It could make some good pictures. This was the inspiration for my purchase: http://theevolutionstore.com/ I always pass this store at home and I'm amazed at the collection. Course I could never afford the stuff but it always makes me wonder what adventures these people went through to obtain these artifacts.

Day 2: Tiny Dancer

Today I went to the "New faces of an Ancient People: Traditional American Indian Pow Wow" here in State College. John Sanchez the coordinator of the event said that the reason why it is called new faces of an ancient people is to honor the children since they are important to the American Indian community in keeping up the tradition. It was amazing to see little dancers with pacifiers still in their mouths! It was a great experience. Classic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Qn3tel9FWU

Day 1: Do you have a flag?

Here's my first photo a day! A duck claims his land in front of the Borland Building, Friday April 1, 2011. It looks like the ducks have made it back to State College for spring. This inpired my image: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTduy7Qkvk8

Welcome

Hi there! My name is Kat and here is my attempt at blogging! I'm from Brooklyn, NY and I'm studying photography at Penn State University. I'm a member of the Penn State Chapter of the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) and that's why I'm here! We are making it a goal to post a photo a day for 30 days starting now. I hope that through this project I will learn more skills and my photography will get better. I'd appreciate any comments you have that will help me become a better photographer. Hope you enjoy!
